Greetings everyone,
This weekend I’ve been in Yangon, Myanmar again to attend the wedding my dear friends Sandy and Zarni. They were a part of my team when I worked there and we have remained good friends, meeting often and sometimes travelling to different places in Myanmar together. They are both mentioned frequently in my book “Two Eggs and a Lemon” and Sandy also proof-read the manuscript to make sure my facts were correct. What an absolute pleasure it is to know that two of my favourite people in Myanmar are now married and making their life together. Their marriage ceremony was at the 9 Mile Shan Temple with friends and relatives sharing their day and in the evening there was a more relaxed family dinner to which I was delighted to be invited. I wish all the very best to Sandy and Zarni for their future happiness. Here are just a few photos of them on their day.

Zarni & Sandy with Zarni’s Parents and Sandy’s Mother and Aunts
The couple pouring water as a symbolic gesture to share all their blessings of this day with everyone
The couple offering robes, food and donations to the monks in thanks and to honour this day
A sweet smile from Sandy

Time for family photos – the couple with Sandy’s family
I am so happy to be with Zarni and Sandy on their special day
Sandy and Zarni looking relaxed and happy as they mingle with friends and family at the reception
A nice tradition – before they can leave they must ‘buy’ back their car key from their friends
Enjoying the fun, but anxious to get away, Zarni hands over the Kyat notes
And so Zarni can now unlock the door and escort his bride into the car
Sandy, laughs with everyone as she escapes into the passenger seat, and can leave with Zarni
Thank you Sandy and Zarni for inviting me to share your special day with you. It was such a pleasure to see you take another great step in your lives and I wish you every happiness in your future together and supporting each other in continuing your career paths and personal plans.
>>> Thank you so much for giving us you valuable time and attending our wedding & making story about us.
